Clinton and Edwards critical of primary process

Too many Presidential candidates or is Hillary Clinton / John Edwards feeling the heat from Barack Obama?
The front-runner Presidential candidates made it clear they’d like more time in front of the camera.
Microphones were live for Fox News (cute), they caught Senator Hillary Clinton and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards discussing a plan to cut the little guys out of the debate:
“We should try to have a more serious and a smaller group,” Edwards said, the Associated Press reported.
Clinton then said:
“We’ve got to cut the number” and “they’re not serious.”
Clinton also said leading campaigns had already attempted to exclude other candidates, saying:
“We’ve gotta get back to it” according to the AP.
This is a discussion that happens all the time, the front-runners want to minimize the field so they can get more air time. The guys who “have no chance in hell” may be making some excellent points, too - but our big money election system is pretty flawed as everyone already knows. Bucks and Noise, that’s all you need to win.
I think this dumb mistake will hurt the two candidates, it’ll give their adversaries stuff to talk about. Unfortunately, the one thing that really matters — Integrity of our Election system is not where our media or political parties will focus. Instead, politics will drive the Integrity of our candidates through a little bit of mud and maybe they’ll put a positive spin on it which will just feed the vicious cycle of political hatred and hypocrisy.
In any case, Ron Paul was excluded in Iowa for very similar reasons. The front-runners don’t want the competition, the Republican base doesn’t want people who think ‘differently’, and Ron Paul had to create his own Iowa party that drew a bigger audience than six Republican candidates combined.

I don’t see much wrong with their wanting to make the debates smaller. As far as they are concerned, the top contenders include them so include a good choice for Americans. Of course, the people might want to look around, even at those considered “not serious” in their model of the world. I, for one, prefer a very broad race this early in the season. So maybe what is wrong is not considering my wants.
