John McCain defeats Mitt Romney, takes Florida and earns 57 delegates for a commanding lead as the candidates regroup and prepare for Super Tuesday.
John McCain Wins Florida
The Arizona senator and the former governor of Massachusetts had been neck-and-neck in the polls, each chasing Florida’s 57 winner-take-all delegates. With 94% of the precincts reporting, Mr. McCain had 36% of the vote and Mr. Romney got 31%.

It looks like the people of Florida might have delivered another decisive victory for the GOP. Not only was the Democratic presence weak in Florida, but the GOP seems to be gaining life behind their newly minted establishment candidate, John McCain. Most analysts argue that McCain needs to shore up Republican support as he is currently struggling with strong conservatives.
The GOP support shouldn’t be a big deal, it’s nothing a top-notch vice presidential candidate and a little politicking – reaching-out to the base– can’t cure. Besides, where else would the strong conservative base turn to, Hillary Clinton? Get real.
