Prediction: John Edwards Will Endorse Obama

Obama spokesman Bill Burton confirmed that a meeting with John Edwards took place Sunday.

“Sen. Obama visited this morning with John and Elizabeth Edwards at their home in Chapel Hill to discuss the state of the campaign and the pressing issues facing American families.”

Edwards met up with Senator Clinton a week ago and some politicos have been jumping all over Hillary’s statements last week for “stealing” John Edwards platform.  The fact is, that both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton promised John Edwards to look after the poor and fight for the rights of the working class and they’ve stayed true to their word.  Both want John Edwards supporters and my prediction is that John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama, a person who is closer to his vision of America on the political spectrum.   Aside from similarities in ideology, I couldn’t imagine John Edwards deciding that Clinton is more electable than Obama.

Finally, unless there is a good reason for doing so, why else would John Edwards meet with Clinton and Obama in that order?  Yeah, it could have been as simple as a scheduling conflict or maybe John Edwards had a favorite already selected and just wanted to make sure he was making the right decision?  Remember, John Edwards supporters have certain expectations and Edwards has to decide who is most likely to pursue plans that would help carry out his agenda had he been president.  I’m sure Edwards also got to make an impression on both candidates, should he be on the short list for vice presidential candidates or a cabinet position.
