Mullah Dadullah, Taliban leader killed in action in Afghanistan
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban’s most prominent military commander, was killed in fighting in southern Afghanistan with Afghan and NATO troops, officials said Sunday.
Dadullah was killed Saturday in the southern province of Helmand, said Said Ansari, the spokesman for Afghanistan’s intelligence service. A government official in Kandahar province who spoke on condition of anonymity said he had seen Dadullah’s body. [source]
This sounds like a pretty big deal but not blogged about much. I’m not sure what this means for the war on terror.. or if the Taliban leader will just be replaced by another American-hating politically charged Muslim. Its good to see that there are positive things happening in the world. This should give conservatives some ammunition to use during their debates, even though it wasn’t a direct result of our efforts in Iraq.
I’m guessing democrats won’t have much to say on this topic, I don’t imagine it’ll make them feel more positive about our prospects within the confines of the Iraq border.
