Paris Hilton may have to serve her prison sentence after all
I wrote about this issue earlier, and it drove me mad. Its such a crock that she can get away which such nonsense and there are so many people in jail are stuck there, many without receiving a speedy trial and incapable of affording an attorney, much less high profile attorneys that Paris has at her disposal.
The Los Angeles City’s Attorney’s Office sends Paris Hilton back to trial
Prosecutors filed court papers Thursday evening with the judge who originally sentenced the heiress to 45 days in jail requesting that the country sheriff’s department return the her to custody and that the sheriff be held in contempt of court for letting her go (Read the order.)
Hilton will appear in court on Friday at 9 a.m. to resolve this matter.
Paris Hilton’s release this morning caused an immediate outcry by many who perceived the sheriff’s actions as an affront to the justice system, especially since Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer had specifically ordered that the Simple Life star not be given alternative custody or electronic monitoring.City attorney spokesman Nick Velasquez said earlier Thursday that the office had been “inundated with calls and emails form people,” with “100 percent of them” angry about Hilton’s release.
I have to admit, I was very depressed this morning when I heard the news. There are times when I wonder if our country will see any progress over the remainder of my life time. It seems that everywhere we turn, there is disappointment after disappointment happening within our legal system and American system of governance.
