Rep. Kucinich lays foundation for impeachment

I’m watching his speech live on C-Span, Dennis Kucinich is giving a long list of quotes from Vice President Dick Cheney from between 2001 and 2003 on Iraq, Weapons of Mass Destruction.

“The vice president pressured the intelligence community to enable its findings [...] to make them fit with the Bush Administration’s accounts.”

“Bush sought inaccurate, raw intelligence to support his beliefs [...] the Vice President’s actions acted to corrupt intel,.. prevented the necessary reconciliation of facts. ”

I’ll post the transcript later, the speech is pretty intense and a serious effort to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.

Here is a Letter from Dennis Kucinich to the Vice President

Dennis Kucinich Letter to Dick Cheney

update: The House floor is pretty fiery right now. I don’t think anyone expected this to go anywhere, but only a handful of Democrats are saying no with a couple of Republicans saying yes. Exciting, it’s about time accountability catches up to the oval office.

  1. I don’t think this is going to go anywhere largely because it is baseless and unsupportable. I pointed to Dennis the Menace’s motives in my blog. It’s pretty scary stuff.

  2. Is it baseless? It seems there was a concerted effort to fabricate information that led to the Iraq war. If they lied to Americans intentionally, they should be held accountable.

The illegal surveillance program that was pushed by Dick Cheney, which he “does not recall” also seems like a major issue that deserves consideration.

Finally, Valerie Plame’s outing, seems like reason to investigate, if not try -someone- at the White House for acting against the interests of our nation for the purpose of sniping a political adversary.
