Patriot Act abuse and domestic spying

The F.B.I. cast a much wider net in its terrorism investigations than it has previously acknowledged by relying on telecommunications companies to analyze phone-call patterns of the associates of Americans who had come under suspicion, according to newly obtained bureau records. The documents indicate that the Federal Bureau of Investigation used secret demands for records to obtain data not only on individuals it saw as targets but also details on their community of interest and the network of people that the target was in contact with.

Loss of rights, humanity, freedom; it happens, but in America?

Everything that is special about our country, all that makes our Democracy meaningful, has been taken from us. No one is held accountable for abuses of power. All problems we’ve encountered are shielded by patriotism, fear, and assertions of ‘exigent circumstances’.

Bush is killing America and no one cares

When did preserving Iraqi freedom become more important than preserving American freedom and Democracy? Our government is failing, it is broken and our President Bush is getting away with murder. He remains invulnerable to traditional avenues of accountability because he and his department of justice have rewritten all of the rules. This Administration will go down as the most ineffective, overreaching, and offensive to ever find its way into the oval office. I hope American citizens learn a lesson from their idiotic needy and nonsensical voting patterns.

the U.S. should not be for sale!

Politicians do a lot of talk about fighting lobbyists and corporate interest groups. Yet when it comes down to it, the first thing they do is solicit and extend their hands as big money is distributed to candidates with the ‘best’ position to defend special interests. Christianity is becoming one of the major offenders and it is really sad to see the hypocrisy that exists within the institution and it’s most ardent supporters. One major reason President Bush was elected was because of the morality police and the lies that were produced for consumption by American fools. I’m a Christian, but I don’t believe in the methods of the far right in governing and intervening in State Affairs.

a sure way to kill democracy

Any deceptive devil can easily proclaim themselves as ‘following the word of God’. Even regular church-goers are susceptible to sin and evil, yet it is because some Christians believe that God will influence ’special’ people to carry out a plan, that we ended up with President Bush. I wouldn’t have a problem if that belief stemmed from observation of character and knowledge of basic governmental principles, but it does not! A lot of Bush supporters voted for him because he was connected with God.  Bush promised Christians money, support, and a more accepting government of religious influence and Christians bit down hard on it.  Evangelicals fell for the lies and now they claim President Bush is the anti-Christ.

Bush is ruining America for everyone

The only reason more people aren’t shouting at the top of their lungs is because he’s filtering money to the well-to-do that keeps them at bay.  Enjoy your summer home and SUV while you still can, the economy monster that Bush created is going to eat your assets and you’re going to be whining about it when the next Democrat is in charge.

I fear living in a nation that wants to become a police State so badly that it loses sight of the people that helped raise it.  Terrorists have worked hard to scare us into changing our policies and guess what? They’ve succeeded.  America introduced Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden into the world of politics and power.

If we should be upset with anyone, it should be our own foolish government and federal agencies.  They thought they were being wise when they pushed us to meddle in middle eastern affairs.  The move better positioned us to acquire precious black gold as much as it better positioned us to be the focus of terrorist attacks.
