destroying the constitution in the name of God

Religion, Politics, Military and the Constitution
There was good reason for our founders to implement principles in the Constitution that separate church and State. 231 years later the division is considerably blurred, the institutions of religion have infiltrated our law, government, and military. I’m a Christian, myself, but I don’t excuse other Christians from acting in a way that destroys constitutional granted rights of other Americans. This country belongs to everyone and the fact is barely supported by reality.
The Christian Embassy, a Campus Crusade for Christ
The Christian Embassy website includes links that read:
- “I Work on Capitol Hill,”
- “I Am a Member of the Diplomatic Community,”
- “I Am a Presidential Appointee,” and
- “I Work at the Pentagon.”
Blurring the church and state distinction and its impact on America:

“One of the reasons this is so sensitive, and so controversial” explained CNN, “is top commanders know that al Qaeda and other fundamentalist Islamic groups often make the claim that the US military is in, if you will, a crusade against Islam — those of the Islamic faith. So there are still many, many questions now about just how much control, how much influence this Christian Embassy group and other groups have inside the Pentagon walls.”
Protecting American lives or defending religious faith?
This argument against religion in the Military has nothing to do with Religious freedom, as the hacks at Fox News will have you believe. Without excusing terrorist activity, it does lends weight to arguments that the President has attacked Iraq for religious reasons and what is worse is, he is using taxpayer dollars to do so.
If our war is perpetuated by a religious agenda, then who can we trust as a collective? The danger of religion in politics and the Military, is it serves to destabilize our government. When trust in the government is weakened, the government loses power over it’s people.
Our constitution is threatened when it is abused to serve political or religious agendas. The reason, of course, is it does not adequately represent the people that elected the government. When a group’s interest is disproportionately served by the President, Congress, the Judiciary, etc. we destroy the purpose of Democracy; our government no longer functions as one.
Harsh words to counter a harsh reality
America will never be free of special interests. Money will, unfortunately, always invade the government’s chambers. This may be a fact of life, but when corporations and organizations do this, greed taints policy and money is lost.
When Religion does it, wars happen, people die and freedom is lost. That is not America, land of the free; this is America land of the religiously blind, land of slaves bound by shackles of faith.
