Freedom of Religion, Jerry Falwell’s influence lives on

The video illustrates one  reason people cannot stand extremists. This type of idiocy angers and offends people, BUT, the net result is a threat to no one! Really, if you are offended by her words, you can turn the television off or block the you tube video.

Sticks and stones, right?

American patriots and soldiers have died defending the rights of fools like this. Patriots gave their lives so that everyone in the country can be a part of the conversation. This Memorial week, I hope people will see the value that comes with living in a free democracy.

The patriot act was our country’s first major step in the wrong direction on liberty principles. It will be repealed, I am sure of it.  Until that happens, however, lets not give politicians more reasons to promote stupid (and unconstitutional) laws.

Let me share a few quotes I’m sure you’ve read or heard before.

I may not agree with what you say, but to your death I will defend your right to say it. — Voltaire

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. - C.S. Lewis

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.- Benjamin Franklin
