Congressman Pete Starks issued an apology to the House, President, and troops
Congressman Pete Starks, a few minutes ago, stood before the House to apologize for statements he made about the President’s amusement from “blowing up the troops.” Congressman Starks was visibly shaken after Republicans passed a resolution to have him censured and was subsequently tabled by House Democrats.
Paraphrasing, he said:
“I want to apologize to my colleagues who’ve I’ve offended, the President, his family, and those troops who may have been offended, as suggested, by the tabled resolution.”
He went on to say that he’d like to be as insignificant as he should be, that we should tackle such issues as Child Health Care and turn to our division over the war and find a bipartisan solution to our nation’s problems. He was applauded for standing up to apologize and own up to his lapse in judgment, he left the floor after his voice cracked. He was visibly shaken and was sincere in his apology.
