President Bush drops the ball on Al Qaida
Reminiscent of the Iraq War invasion that allowed Osama Bin Laden to go free, the White House has leaked privileged information to Fox News that puts our nation at risk from the same terrorist wave that Bush surfed to the top.
The White House provided Fox News with private information regarding a pending release of an Al Qaida video. This unforgivable blunder set off a flurry of downloads of the unannounced video on Al Qaida website. This breach tipped off Al Qaida, and a year of work spent infiltrating the network was destroyed.
I’ve reposted part of an article below from the Washington Post so you could see a bit of what I’m raging about this afternoon. From the Washington Post
A small private intelligence company that monitors Islamic terrorist groups obtained a new Osama bin Laden video ahead of its official release last month, and around 10 a.m. on Sept. 7, it notified the Bush administration of its secret acquisition. It gave two senior officials access on the condition that the officials not reveal they had it until the al-Qaeda release.
Within 20 minutes, a range of intelligence agencies had begun downloading it from the company’s Web site. By midafternoon that day, the video and a transcript of its audio track had been leaked from within the Bush administration to cable television news and broadcast worldwide.
The founder of the company, the SITE Intelligence Group, says this premature disclosure tipped al-Qaeda to a security breach and destroyed a years-long surveillance operation that the company has used to intercept and pass along secret messages, videos and advance warnings of suicide bombings from the terrorist group’s communications network.
“Techniques that took years to develop are now ineffective and worthless,” said Rita Katz, the firm’s 44-year-old founder, who has garnered wide attention by publicizing statements and videos from extremist chat rooms and Web sites, while attracting controversy over the secrecy of SITE’s methodology. Her firm provides intelligence about terrorist groups to a wide range of paying clients, including private firms and military and intelligence agencies from the United States and several other countries.
The precise source of the leak remains unknown. Government officials declined to be interviewed about the circumstances on the record, but they did not challenge Katz’s version of events.
The President, Fox News, and the War on Terror ™
If you’ve been paying attention, you know there are several serious issues that plague our highest level of American government.
Incompetence exhibited at the highest level of government seems unreal. Not only did President Bush ignore Al Qaida after September 11th, his administration made a catastrophe out of the Katrina disaster, involved itself in politicizing the U.S. attorney’s office the U.S. Military, and has continuously coerced the American people by manipulating the media to serve political agendas . The U.S. government under the leadership of President George W. Bush has shown that has no qualms with using the media to continue selling its unpopular War in Iraq.
Fox News has been accused of a lot of things, especially when it comes to tainting the political discourse and helping the administration divide our nation on the issues. Even prior to Bush’s election into the White House, Fox News arguably helped sabotage Al Gore’s candidacy with the “Al Gore is a compulsive liar” propaganda theme. They perpetuated the drama and encouraged hate in the late 90s and have continued along these lines. Fox News, believe it or not, has tried to push a “Bill Clinton is a murderer” line of propaganda because the powers that be know that he is among America’s most popular Presidents.
The Fox New raging media attack against Al Gore, may have been the tipping point for George W. Bush’s to secure his Presidency. If you hear it enough times: “George W. Bush would be different than villain Bill Clinton, because he wasn’t a filthy liberal scumbag liar,” you just might start believing it. They were right about him not being liberal, but pretty much wrong on everything else. I won’t go into the John Kerry fiasco, but it was more of the same from Fox and the problem persists.
This Bush Administration has led a humiliating and shameful attack on the integrity of our government. I am convinced when all is said and done, history will reflect on President Bush’s years in office as part of the most corrupt and incompetent presidency in American History, it won’t even be close.
