The highly anticipated annual compilation of the year’s most liked unproduced screenplays, The Black List, has just unveiled its rankings for 2023. With a minimum word count of 300-400, we bring you the highlights of this year’s list.
Taking the coveted top spot on this year’s Black List is Travis Braun’s “Bad Boy.” Represented by UTA and Echo Lake Entertainment, this gripping screenplay received a staggering 49 votes. “Bad Boy” tells the story of a rescue dog who becomes increasingly suspicious of his new owner, whom he suspects to be a serial killer.
When it comes to agencies dominating the list, CAA continues its winning streak for the third consecutive year. The agency represents a whopping 11 scripts within the top rankings. However, not far behind is Grandview, closely trailing with nine scripts represented.
Colin Liddle’s “Head Games,” represented jointly by CAA and Grandview, emerged as one of the most popular scripts, receiving an impressive 25 votes. The story revolves around a corporate spy who goes undercover as a chef in order to steal a groundbreaking invention from a disgraced founder.
In terms of agency rankings, Verve secures the second spot with eight scripts, closely followed by UTA with 6.5. Bellevue Productions and Writ Large tie for second place among management companies, with each representing an impressive seven scripts.
