Capcom’s much-anticipated fantasy action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, is set to release on March 12. However, it seems that the game may be facing some technical challenges, particularly in terms of frame rate performance on the PC platform.
Capcom has acknowledged that the performance issues on PC may be linked to heavy CPU demands from the Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) in the game. Director Hideaki Itsuno clarified that Dragon’s Dogma 2 aims for a frame rate of around 30 frames per second (fps) or higher on all consoles.
According to IGN performance reviewer Michael Thompson, there are frame rate inconsistencies on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S due to CPU and memory bandwidth demands. Even high-end machines are experiencing drops in frame rates due to the high hardware demands of the game.
IGN senior editorial producer Mark Medina even experienced motion sickness due to frame rate issues on the PS5 and had to switch to PC. However, IGN editorial producer Mitchell Saltzman and gameplay producer Ronny Barrier find the frame rate issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2 distracting but not deal breakers for their overall gaming experience.
Despite the frame rate issues, players are still eagerly diving into the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 for its thrilling combat and exploration elements. Fans are hoping that Capcom will address these performance issues promptly to ensure a smoother gaming experience for all players.
