Three crew members, including NASA astronaut Tracy C. Dyson, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitskiy, and spaceflight participant Marina Vasilevskaya, are safe after their scheduled launch to the International Space Station (ISS) was automatically aborted. The launch was supposed to take place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan but was halted 20 seconds before liftoff due to a failure with the umbilicals on the Soyuz rocket.
The crew members were informed of the abort and returned to their quarters as engineers work to determine the cause of the issue for the rescheduled launch on Saturday. Despite this setback, a separate cargo resupply mission was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida and is expected to dock at the space station on Saturday as well.
Once the cause of the automatic abort is resolved, the crew members will join astronauts and cosmonauts already aboard the ISS. In the meantime, they are safe and awaiting their next opportunity to make the journey to the space station. Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming launch as the investigation continues.
