Israeli military forces made a shocking discovery during a raid on Gaza’s largest hospital, al Shifa Hospital, earlier this week. The soldiers found a cache of weapons hidden throughout the hospital, including in bathrooms, the maternity ward, and the MRI center. The weapons found included mortars, rifles, grenades, and ammunition.
According to reports, the IDF’s Nahal Brigade had been operating inside the hospital for three days, resulting in the killing of 170 terrorists and the arrest of 800 others. This operation came after a gun battle with Hamas terrorists.
The discovery of weapons in a hospital has prompted condemnation from the World Health Organization and the United Nations. Doctors at al Shifa Hospital have been struggling to treat patients amidst the violent clashes.
Meanwhile, the Hamas-run ministry of health claimed that wounded patients and refugees were among those killed in the raids. The Shin Bet intelligence agency has also been busy, seizing weapons being smuggled into the West Bank. These weapons have been linked to Iran’s Unit 4,000 and senior Fatah official Munir Makdah.
The seized weapons included bombs, landmines, RPG launchers, assault rifles, handguns, and more. Intelligence officers are currently working with the IDF to locate additional Iranian weapons believed to have been smuggled into the West Bank.
This troubling development raises concerns about the use of hospitals for military purposes and the proliferation of weapons in the region. The situation remains tense as security forces work to maintain control and prevent further violence in Gaza and the West Bank.
