Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder and former CEO of Amazon, continues to make headlines with his extravagant real estate purchases.
Recently, Bezos shelled out a whopping $90 million for his third mansion on South Florida’s exclusive Indian Creek Island. This purchase adds to Bezos’ already impressive $147 million property portfolio on the island, spread out across two other lavish mansions.
The tech mogul has big plans for his new acquisition. Bezos intends to demolish all three mansions to make way for a sprawling megamansion, all while residing in his most recent $90 million purchase. The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom home spans over 15,000 square feet and was last sold in 1998 for a mere $2.5 million.
Bezos’ decision to relocate to Florida was announced in November 2023, citing a desire to be closer to family and his affinity for the vibrant city of Miami. The move also makes financial sense for Bezos, whose net worth exceeds $200 billion. With Florida’s lack of capital gains tax, the state offers significant tax savings compared to Bezos’ previous residence in Washington, particularly following his costly divorce from MacKenzie Scott.
Indian Creek Island has become a hotspot for the rich and famous seeking privacy and security. Notable figures such as football superstar Tom Brady and political power couple Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have also found their way to this exclusive enclave.
As Bezos continues to redefine luxury living with his multimillion-dollar acquisitions, all eyes will be on the evolution of his megamansion project on Indian Creek Island.
