Actor Ryan Gosling has made a stunning debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his song “I’m Just Ken” landing at No. 87. Released on July 21 along with the new Barbie film, the track has already garnered quite a following, with 5.2 million U.S. streams and 2,000 downloads in its opening week.
But that’s not all – “I’m Just Ken” also made its mark on other charts, entering at No. 4 on the Hot Rock Songs chart and No. 5 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Additionally, it landed at No. 39 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Clearly, Gosling’s musical prowess is shining through.
The song itself is part of the Barbie: The Album soundtrack, which has also been making waves on the charts. The soundtrack opened at an impressive No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 126,000 units. Not only that, but it also claimed the No. 1 spot on the Soundtracks chart and No. 2 on Top Album Sales. This makes it the highest charting soundtrack on the Billboard 200 since Encanto back in January-March 2022.
For those who may not be aware, this is not Gosling’s first appearance on the charts. In 2016, he charted with the song “City of Stars” from the critically acclaimed film La La Land. However, his musical journey can be traced back even further. Before his success in the industry, Gosling was a member of the Disney Channel’s The Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1995. It was during this time that he performed alongside future Billboard hitmakers Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake. His talent was evident even back then.
It’s clear that Gosling has found a knack for making music alongside his acting career, and fans are eagerly awaiting what he will bring to the music world next. As he continues to surprise and impress with his talents, he is solidifying himself as a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.
