One Dead, Multiple Injured in Minneapolis Backyard Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS – A tragic shooting in a Minneapolis backyard late Friday night has left one man dead and several others injured. The incident took place on the 2200 block of 16th Avenue South, eliciting a swift response from the Minneapolis Police Department.
Officers were called to the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds. In a desperate attempt to save lives, emergency personnel exerted efforts to revive a man in his 30s. Unfortunately, their efforts proved fruitless as he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Five other victims were immediately transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for urgent medical care. Among them, one man sustained potentially life-threatening injuries, while three men and a woman suffered non-life-threatening wounds. Additionally, another adult self-transported to another medical facility with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Authorities suspect that two assailants entered the backyard, opened fire, and quickly made their escape. It remains unclear whether any arrests have been made at this stage or what motivated the shooting.
This incident was just one of several shootings that occurred on Friday night in Minneapolis. In a separate incident, a Minneapolis police officer was shot and injured while attempting to pursue a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in a robbery. Fortunately, three 19-year-olds and a juvenile have already been apprehended in connection to this shooting.
