West Michigan-based Restaurant Partners Management, LLC has announced that all of Tuesday’s profits from several restaurants in and around Grand Rapids will be donated to help Maui fire relief efforts. The company, which owns 15 restaurants in West Michigan and six in Traverse City, aims to support the victims of the devastating fires that have destroyed numerous restaurants on Maui, leaving workers without income and affecting the island’s community gathering places.
Owner Jeff Lobdell wanted to organize a benefit at all of the company’s locations to provide assistance to those impacted by the fires. The donations collected will be directed to two organizations: the Hawaii Restaurant Association Relief Fund and the American Red Cross Hawaii Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund. By patronizing participating Grand Rapids area restaurants, such as Bagel Beanery, Beltine Bar, Grand Coney Diner, Noble Restaurant, Omelette Shoppe, Pete’s Grill & Tavern, Rainbow Grill, Real Food Cafe, Red Geranium Cafe, and Sundance Grill, West Michigan residents can contribute to the relief efforts.
However, it is essential for people to remain cautious of scams when making donations and support trusted charitable organizations. The Better Business Bureau Serving Western Michigan advises individuals to research and vet the organizations they wish to donate to, as scams often emerge during times of crisis. Checking the ratings of organizations and being vigilant for red flags, such as recently created organizations or suspicious social media links and crowdfunding pages, can help prevent falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
For those looking for additional information about charities and their ratings, the BBB’s give.org website provides valuable resources. By remaining vigilant and supporting legitimate organizations, West Michigan residents can ensure that their contributions go directly towards helping those in need.
