In a stunning turnaround, Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first road win of the NBA playoffs with a dominant performance against the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of their second-round series. Mitchell scored 29 points, helping the Cavaliers outscore the Celtics 64–40 in the second half to ultimately win 118–94 and tie the series 1–1.
Evan Mobley also had a strong game for Cleveland, finishing with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Caris LeVert added 21 points off the bench. Despite Jayson Tatum’s 25 points for the Celtics, he struggled with his shooting, going 7-for-17 from the field.
One key factor in the Cavaliers’ victory was their breakthrough shooting night from behind the arc, hitting 46 percent of their 3-point attempts. Mitchell went 5-for-7 and Darius Garland went 4-for-5 from long range. In contrast, the Celtics struggled with their outside shooting, making just 22.9 percent of their 3-point attempts.
Jarrett Allen missed his fifth consecutive playoff game for the Cavaliers, while Kristaps Porziņģis has been out for the Celtics’ past two games. Game 3 of the series is set for Saturday in Cleveland, with tipoff at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Cavaliers will look to carry the momentum from their Game 2 victory into the pivotal Game 3 on their home court. With both teams missing key players, it will be interesting to see how they adjust their strategies for what is sure to be a highly competitive matchup. Stay tuned for more exciting playoff action as the series heats up.
