Conjoined Twin Abby Hensel Marries Josh Bowling in Private Ceremony
Conjoined twin Abby Hensel recently tied the knot with nurse and US Army veteran Josh Bowling in a private ceremony in 2021. The couple, who gained national attention in 1996 with an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and later had their own TLC reality series, shared their joy with a photo on Facebook.
The photo shows Abby and her twin sister Brittany in a wedding dress and grey suit respectively, holding hands and looking at each other lovingly. A short clip shared on Heidi Bowling’s Facebook page also captured the couple’s first dance at their wedding reception, marking the beginning of their journey as husband and wife.
Abby and Brittany, who work as fifth-grade teachers in Minnesota, were born and raised in the same state. The twins are dicephalus conjoined twins, sharing all their organs from below the waist, with Abby controlling the right side of their body and Brittany controlling the left side.
Their parents made the decision against separation surgery for the twins in 1990 after being informed of the risks involved. The brave couple has defied all odds and continued to live a fulfilling life, now embarking on a new chapter as a married pair.
The heartwarming union of Abby and Josh serves as a reminder of the power of love and acceptance, as the couple shows the world that true love knows no boundaries, not even those of a rare medical condition. Cheers to the newlyweds!
