Samsung Enhances Camera Software on Foldable Phones for Better Photography Experience
Samsung has recently implemented significant changes to the camera and Gallery app software on its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. These improvements are aimed at enhancing the overall photo and video shooting experiences, as well as the editing capabilities in the Gallery app.
One of the major updates is the implementation of better image processing and software algorithms to enhance basic picture quality. This includes adaptive contrast adjustment and improved skin expressions with higher texture accuracy. Samsung has also introduced a Video Ultra Low Light solution and a single frame-based noise reduction process to effectively handle low-light environments.
To further improve image quality, Samsung has introduced an AI Object Aware Engine that separates images into groups and selectively applies advanced image processing techniques to specific groups without affecting others. This results in brighter faces, sharper details, and cleaner skin expressions and tones in selfies.
The digital zoom quality has also been significantly improved using high-resolution image generation technology and AI models. This ensures that there is minimal noise and enhanced texture detail when zooming in on subjects.
Samsung has also made improvements in night photography with reduced noise and improved brightness in extreme low-light conditions. The Portrait Mode on the primary camera has been enhanced with improved depth map accuracy and an AI model that leverages phase difference information to deliver a more natural blur effect.
The Pro Mode and Pro Video Modes have been enhanced, making it easier for users to access ISO, shutter speed, and EV controls. Additionally, the process of sharing and deleting photos has been streamlined for a better user experience.
The Under-Display Camera (UDC) has also undergone improvements through better processing and software. Samsung has used high Dynamic Range multi-frame composition technology and AI-based solutions for resolution correction, resulting in better image quality.
Document scanning has been improved as well, with better blur processing and the addition of an object eraser function to remove obstructions from photos.
The Gallery app has also received updates, allowing users to copy filters and tonal effects from one photo and apply them to multiple images at once. The photo remaster feature has been made faster, enhancing the editing capabilities for users.
Samsung has announced its plans to bring these software updates to the Galaxy S23 series and future models, promising an enhanced photography experience across its smartphone lineup.
Overall, these software updates on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 reflect Samsung’s commitment to providing users with improved camera functionality and an elevated photography experience on its foldable smartphones.
