NASA has recently announced its selection of 13 new projects for its prestigious Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. Another project aims to develop a fixed-wing, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft specifically designed for Mars exploration. If successful, this aircraft could provide a groundbreaking means of transportation on the Red Planet.
One notable project is being led by Geoff Landis from NASA’s Glenn Research Center, who is working on a plan to retrieve surface samples from Venus. This ambitious endeavor could greatly enhance our knowledge of Earth’s enigmatic neighbor.
Several other projects focus on various aspects of space technology, such as efficient fuel storage in space, eliminating harmful chemicals from the Martian environment, and studying hibernation in microgravity for interplanetary travel.
