The Green Bay Packers make headlines with a major signing in the NFL offseason. The team has officially agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.
While the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it is expected to become official once the new league year kicks off on March 13. The Packers had been on the lookout for an elite running back and had previously shown interest in Jonathan Taylor.
With the addition of Jacobs, there are speculations that the team might part ways with veteran running back Aaron Jones, who was reportedly in discussions for a new contract. Additionally, the Packers made room for the new signings by releasing All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari to free up cap space.
In a further move to strengthen their roster, the Packers also secured safety Xavier McKinney on a four-year, $68 million contract. Jacobs, who spent his entire career with the Raiders before joining the Packers, has had an impressive track record. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in three seasons and even led the NFL in rushing yards in 2022.
During the last season, Jacobs managed to accumulate 805 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns in 13 games played. His performance earned him the No. 24 spot on CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco’s list of top overall free agents.
Overall, the Green Bay Packers are making strategic moves to enhance their roster and boost their chances of success in the upcoming NFL season.
