Former President Donald Trump made headlines once again on Thursday when he misstated the age of his youngest son, Barron Trump, during an interview. Trump claimed Barron was 17 years old when in fact he is 18 years old.
The mistake occurred while Trump was discussing Barron’s role as a delegate from Florida for the upcoming Republican National Convention. Despite the error, Trump praised Barron’s involvement in politics, pointing out that he will be serving as a delegate alongside his siblings -Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Tiffany Trump.
In response to the controversy, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign lashed out at NBC News, accusing them of sensationalism and focusing on what they called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Despite the criticism, Trump seemed unfazed, referring to Barron’s participation as a delegate as “very cute” and revealing that Barron will be graduating from high school next week.
Notably, Trump has requested a break from his ongoing criminal trial in New York to attend Barron’s graduation ceremony. The former president is facing charges of falsifying business records but has maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
The news of Barron’s involvement in politics comes as a surprise to many, as the youngest Trump has largely stayed out of the spotlight. However, it seems that Barron is ready to make his mark in the political arena, following in his family’s footsteps.
