Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated tenth and final movie has undergone a significant change, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The filmmaker has decided to scrap the project titled The Movie Critic, which was set to be his swan song in the world of cinema.
Originally, The Movie Critic was rumored to be set in 1977 and follow a cynical movie critic, with Brad Pitt slated to star as stuntman Cliff Booth from Tarantino’s previous film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There were also whispers of Tom Cruise and John Travolta being involved in the project.
However, Tarantino, who had previously stated that he would only direct 10 movies, had a change of heart about The Movie Critic and ultimately decided to abandon the project altogether. His last film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, released in 2019 and received 10 Academy Award nominations.
Tarantino has since shifted his focus to writing, with plans to release a novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and a non-fiction book titled Cinema Speculation. Additionally, he was set to direct a Star Trek movie with Mark L. Smith, although that project never came to fruition.
Despite the cancellation of The Movie Critic, fans can still look forward to Tarantino’s final project making its way to the big screen in the future.
