Four astronauts, including NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, have bid farewell to the International Space Station (ISS) after a successful 199-day mission. The diverse crew, which also included astronauts from the European Space Agency, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and Roscosmos, undocked from the ISS over Hawaii.
The SpaceX Crew-7 mission, aboard the Crew Dragon Endurance, was launched on August 26 for a six-month stay at the ISS. During their time on the station, the crew conducted a variety of experiments and even hosted private visitors.
The astronauts are now scheduled to splash down off the coast of Florida tomorrow, with the exact location yet to be determined, around 5:35 a.m. EDT. Despite initial plans for spacewalks during the mission, including one involving Moghbeli and Mogensen to replace a faulty electronics box, these were postponed or canceled due to issues such as a leak at the Russian segment of the ISS.
The departure of Crew-7 was broadcast live on NASA Television, and crew comments were shared as they began their journey back to Earth. This momentous occasion marks the end of another successful mission for the international space community.
