An individual who recently visited Cincinnati has tested positive for measles, prompting concerns about potential exposure at two popular locations in the city. The out-of-town visitor flew from Chicago to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on April 10 and reportedly visited Morton’s Steakhouse for takeout before taking a Lyft to the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.
According to health officials, staff, guests, or visitors at both the Hyatt Regency and Morton’s Steakhouse may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus. Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and a rash. It is important to note that individuals who believe they may have been exposed should not go to the emergency room or urgent care to get tested.
Instead, those who are concerned about potential exposure should check their vaccination records to see if they have received the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles. If individuals believe they have been exposed and are experiencing symptoms, they are encouraged to call the Cincinnati Health Department at 513-357-7462 for guidance.
However, the risk of contracting measles is considered to be “very low” for those who have been vaccinated or have previously had the illness. Health officials are urging anyone who may have come into contact with the infected individual to monitor their health closely and seek medical attention if necessary.
