In a wild turn of events on Wednesday morning, five British military horses caused chaos in London as they bolted through the streets near Buckingham Palace, injuring four people in the process. The horses, on a morning exercise in Belgravia, were spooked by nearby construction workers, leading to the chaotic scene that unfolded.
Videos posted on social media captured the moment the horses charged through busy areas of the city, causing panic among pedestrians and motorists. One horse reportedly smashed into the windshield of a silver mini van, while another collided with a double-decker tour bus.
Three soldiers were also injured in the incident, receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Additionally, a cyclist was caught in the chaos and suffered injuries as well.
The horses were actually in the area rehearsing for a Major General’s Inspection set for Thursday in Hyde Park. However, the unexpected turn of events led to a different kind of spectacle for onlookers and bystanders.
City of London Police managed to contain two of the horses and were waiting for the British Army to arrive and collect them for veterinary care. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of working with animals, even those as well-trained as military horses.
