ARGDL Architects have recently completed a stunning residential project just outside the town of Los Espinos in Tapalpa, Mexico. Spanning an impressive area of 265 m², this project is a true testament to the beauty and potential of vernacular architecture.
The design, brought to life by the skilled architects at ARGDL, is a masterful reinterpretation of traditional architecture, incorporating elements of stone and wood. The result is a harmonious blend of old and new, a modern take on a classic style.
The residence consists of two double-height ships connected by a striking glass corridor. The day ship is dedicated to social spaces, featuring a mezzanine level for resting and a range of amenities on the ground floor. These include a spacious kitchen, a comfortable dining area, a cozy living room, a pristine bathroom, and service modules.
On the other hand, the night ship is designed to be a tranquil sanctuary, offering a visually linked TV room, a charming patio for natural light, a comfortable bedroom, and a luxurious bathroom. To ensure privacy, the master bedroom, complete with a personal bathroom, is located on the second level.
What truly sets this project apart is its careful consideration of the environment. The architects have utilized local stone for the main volumes, creating a sense of rootedness and connection to the surrounding landscape. Regional pine has been used for the roofs and frames, adding warmth and character to the design.
